5 Exciting Luxury Cars for 2020
Another year means there’s another set of vehicle models hitting the showrooms in Australia over the next few months. Faster, more powerful, and equipped with the latest technology, these new cars for 2020 are not your average transportation machine. They’re built to excite, command attention, and “wow” bystanders.
Five of the most anticipated luxury cars that are due to arrive in the next 12 months include:
Aston Martin DBX
Arrival: November 2020

The first SUV of the British luxury car brand and its wildest departure from sports cars to date, the DBX will be priced between the Lamborghini Urus and Bentley Bentayga.
Not your ordinary crossover, the DBX runs much faster than traditional SUVs. In fact, it drives like a sports car, thanks to the 405kW 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 engine that’s good for a 4.5-second sprint to 100km/h and a 291km/h top speed.
Like all core Aston Martin models, DBX is crafted from aluminium, making the car strong and tough yet ultra-lightweight. It also features double-wishbone front suspension, multi-link rear axle, and electronic adaptive damping for every wheel like all the marque’s sports and GT cars. The luxury SUV also has side vents to reduce drag and rear roof wing that splits the airflow and provides aerodynamic downforce and a clear rear window.
DBX is also the first Aston Martin model to use all-round air suspension, which results in outstanding ride comfort and dynamic control. The car’s ride height can be adjusted by up to 95mm from lowest to the highest setting to tackle difficult terrain or provide easy access and loading. It is also equipped with a powerful 48-volt antibody roll system, which can uncouple the anti-roll bars and keep the wheels grounded even on challenging terrains.
Of course, there’s an abundance of luxury features inside the cabin of the 5-seater SUV. These include the panoramic sunroof and the two large TFT screens offer digital graphics for all infotainment functions--a 12.3-inch screen driver display and a 10.25-inch central display that’s operated by a rotary controller. The car’s infotainment system is configured for mobile device connectivity and with sound systems offering up to 800W through 14 speakers.
The interior of the car is also covered in leather and woven wool that can be combined with a choice of seven dashboard veneers, including contemporary wood, carbon fibre, and natural flax composite.
2020 Jaguar F-Type

The latest Jaguar F-Type gets a facelift for both its coupe and convertible body styles. These include a more powerful 5.0 litre V8 423kW engine, sportier chassis and more advanced technology.
The Australian F-Type range will be available with three engines all paired with an eight-speed automatic. The base engine is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder unit with 221kW and 400Nm. This is capable of completing the 0-100km/h standard in 5.7 seconds and hitting a top speed of 250km/h.
Design-wise, the updated F-Type model is said to be the slimmest in the Jaguar range. It features thin and horizontally arrayed LED headlights and a large, gaping grille. Complementing the slimline headlamps is the car’s vented clamshell bonnet. Meanwhile, the front bumper has a larger, gaping grille while the side vents sport an integrated leaper motif.
The taillights and sweeping tail have also been tweaked—The new taillights have rectangular rather than a circular dip. The rear bumper also features a new diffuser, licence plate surround, and exhaust tip layouts.
Inside the cabin are new leather and satin silver finishes. There’s also a notable 12.3-inch HD instrumentation screen, which is configurable and compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Volkswagen T-Roc 2020

Another highly anticipated SUV is the Volkswagen T-Roc, which will arrive in Aussie showrooms in the next three months. Raising the flag of the German car company that unfortunately still has zero presence in the country, the T-Roc will enter the small-SUV local market.
Expected to bridge the gap between the hatch and full-blown SUV, the sporty car with a golf-sized dimension will be lined up in the premium segment.
It will be launched with a seven-speed DSG and 4MOTION all-wheel-drive and a 140kW/320Nm 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine.
Mercedes-Benz GLA 2020
Arrival: Third quarter of 2020

The second-generation GLA, which is recognised as the most popular small premium SUV in the market, will be saying goodbye to its jacked-up hatch look.
It will now feature a more upright SUV appearance, such as bigger dimension (30mm wider, 30mm longer in wheelbase, and 104mm taller than its predecessor but 14mm shorter in overall length than its predecessor) and sporty design touches (dual exhaust tips, unique front fascia trim, Panamericana front grille, and a rear lip spoiler).
Inside the cabin, however, the redesign is barely noticeable. Just like its older GLA model, the latest GLA features a central touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster that’s placed behind a single pane of glass. These fixes are flanked by five-turbine air vents and a single row of physical climate controls. There’s also the large, full-colour head-up display with augmented reality satellite navigation and a voice assistant functionality that wakes up to the “Hey Mercedes” greeting.
Several engine options have been reported. However, only the GLA200’s 120kW/250Nm 1.3-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine and AMG GLA35’s 225kW/400Nm 2.0-litre unit are confirmed as of this writing.
Ford Escape 2020

This fourth-generation Escape will be the first Ford in Australia that offers a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain option that offers an anticipated pure-electric driving range of more than 50km. This engineering allows the car to achieve the driving range of a traditional combustion engine while also offering the fuel efficiency and refinement of an electric powertrain.
The sleek mid-size SUV will also look less SUV-like and more carlike because of its more sculpted and simplified exterior styling design.
Inside the cabin, a plethora of advanced driving features is set up to provide a more comfortable, relaxing, and safe driving experience. These include integrated in-vehicle communication and entertainment system with enhanced voice control and Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Applink connectivity; an ergonomic 3-spoke steering wheel, electronic parking brake, adaptive rear storage, lower ride height, and re-calibrated electronic steering. The car also comes with power opening panoramic glass roof that lets the light in to deliver optimum all-round visibility in poor weather and brings the outdoors in at the touch of a button.
Various other features are also fit in the car for convenience and safety, including hands-free power tailgate, high-tech car key that can control speed and regulate stereo volume, auto start-stop function, bi-xenon HID headlight that can detect road conditions and adapt beam patterns, and seven airbags including side curtain airbags that offer 360-degrees of protection for both front and rear passengers.
Several driving-assistance features are also installed for safer and better driving, such as adaptive cruise control, blind-spot information system, hill launch assist, intelligent AWD system, torque vectoring control, enhanced active park assist, and preprogrammed emergency assistance.
